Estimate Your Arrival Times at Checkpoints

A more precise method: (Yet to be updated for 2026 Tides)
When you know your start time at Windsor, your base paddling speed, and your planned stoppages, a calculator can estimate your arrival times as Sackville (Checkpoint D), Wisemans (Checkpoint I) and the Finish after incorporating estimates of tide influence.
The scientific Excel calculator is provided courtesy of Lane Cove Rive Kayak Club (LCRK).  Note the calculator may not suit everybody, it is very much an estimate, but it is made available for those keen to have as much information as possible.  The link to LCRK's HCC website of helpful hints is here.  On that page, scroll down to 2025 HCC Calculator:

  • read the paragraph including the points

  • download the calculator

  • go to the HCC Calculator tab

  • read the instructions at the top of column N

  • enter the data required (start time, base speed, planned stoppages

  • see/print the outcome in the two map tabs ... HCC Map (Elapsed) and HCC Map (ETA)

  • share this information with your Landcrew.
